HRA, in partnership with United Way of West Central Connecticut, will be providing FREE income tax preparation assistance this year with COVID-19 restrictions. All sites require appointment, no walk-ins permitted. VITA hours at the United Way office are Tuesday evenings 4:00pm - 7:30pm and Saturday's 9:00 am - 3:00 pm until April 13th.

Games will be led by Bristol Public school Physical Education teacher Scott Redman. Kids will be able to play Physical Education type games in a structured setting in the new Bristol Facility.

This program, led by Gary Melnysyn certified Master Naturalist, covers the ABC's of bear awareness, natural history and safety. We will touch on bear biology, history of black bears in CT as well as bear behavior. Participants will learn the Do's and Don'ts to help deter bad bear behavior or, for that matter, even dangerous bear behavior.

Gary Melnysyn is an avid outdoor enthusiast and award-winning photographer. He has been interested in wildlife from a very young age. As a certified Master Naturalist, Master Wildlife Conservationist and National Park Ranger, he has led and narrated eco tours as well as taught adults and children alike about the coastal ecosystem of Florida, the wildlife of New England and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

SATURDAY, APRIL 24, 2021 ANY TIME FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL 12:00 PM OR ANY TIME THAT WORKS FOR YOU TO CLEAN UP YOUR CORNER OF BRISTOL!
Join your neighbors and friends to help clean up several areas throughout the City:

Riverside Avenue
Veterans Memorial Boulevard Park
The West End Neighborhood
Along the Railroad Tracks on North Main Street and Main Street
Forestville Village and Along the Pequabuck River
And Your Neighborhood!
Clean Up Day kits will be available for pick up starting Wednesday, April 21 at City Hall, the Bristol Public Library, and Manross Library during business hours. Kits will also be available the day of the event at Bristol Public Library. Packets will include garbage bags, a mask, t-shirt, instructions, and safety guidelines. You are encouraged to provide your own gloves.

Prizes will be awarded to those who turn in the most garbage and the most unique item. Groups are encouraged to take photos for social media and post them on the Bristol All Heart Facebook page.

If your civic organization, Scout Troop, or school group is interested in volunteering – community service credit available – please contact the Mayor’s Office at mayorsoffice@bristolct.gov or call 860-584-6250.

The Pequabuck River Watershed Association will be hosting a River Clean Up Day in conjunction with the City of Bristol’s Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 24.

Meet at Nuchie’s parking lot at 164 Central Street, Forestville between 8:00-8:15 am – look for the PRWA signs!

COVID-19 safety precautions will be followed. Sturdy shoes and long sleeves recommended. Gloves, bags, coffee, snacks, water provided. Groups welcome! Community Service Credit Available.

This program, led by Gary Melnysyn, avid outdoor enthusiast and certified Master Naturalist, covers Yellowstone National Park’s geological as well as wildlife resources. Discussions will include the various thermal features and their origins as well as everyones favorites: wolves, bears and bison. Gary will share his Park Ranger experiences with the audience along with a variety of photos he has captured over the years.

As well as being an avid outdoor enthusiast and award-winning photographer, Gary has been interested in wildlife from a very young age. As a certified Master Naturalist, Master Wildlife Conservationist and National Park Ranger, he has led and narrated eco tours as well as taught adults and children alike about the coastal ecosystem of Florida, the wildlife of New England and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Join us on Zoom as we explore the magnificent estates and mansions of Long Island’s “Gold Coast” that are believed to have inspired The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.* Led by Gary Lawrance of Lawrance Architectural Presentations in Stony Brook, New York, the program will include aerial photos circa 1926, as well as archival photos showcasing the interiors of the mansions. An architect and historian, Mr. Lawrance will share his extensive knowledge of the Gilded Age. A Q &A session will follow. Advance registration is required for this program and the book discussion. Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center Presents: From the Vine, a unique virtual interactive wine & spirit tasting event to be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 6:30-7:30 pm.

The event is presented by Worldwide Wine & Spirits and includes a “Sip, Savory, & Sweet box” filled with a variety of six fine wines and four spirits for the tasting and will be hosted by a wine and spirit expert. This virtual extravaganza includes interactive experiences, entertainment, and a silent auction. Sponsorship opportunities are available!
