The media provides soundbytes about its secretive, authoritarian leadership, but what is North Korea and how do it's people really live? Learn about the history and current situation in the "Hermit Kingdom" with Yale Teaching Fellow, John Grisafi.

John Grisafi has worked as a journalist and military analyst covering North Korea, holds an MA in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania and a Korean Language Diploma from the Defense Language Institute. John is currently a Teaching Fellow and PhD candidate in Religious Studies at Yale University.

The Mum Festival will be held September 24 – 26. Due to ongoing construction and renovations at the Memorial Blvd. Magnet school this year’s Mum Festival will be moving to Downtown Bristol and held on North Main Street and the surrounding area.

A theme of “Honoring Heroes” was chosen to pay tribute to all the health care and essential workers who worked so hard during the pandemic.

This year’s festival will feature a new layout that will be utilizing lower North Main Street, Hope Street, Riverside Avenue Ext., Bracket Park for the Kids Zone, the Bristol Health parking for the Car Show, and the former Patch and surrounding area.

FREE food boxes filled with fresh produce will be distributed on Thursday September 16 and 30 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. or until boxes run out at the Department of Public Works Garage at 95 Vincent P. Kelly Road. Follow signs from Middle Street to Cross Street, right onto Lake Avenue and right onto Vincent P. Kelly Road.
