Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
OCTOBER 2 @ 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

While there is no fee to register for the walk, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds in support of the cause. Collected funds allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure.

Your health and safety are our top priorities. We will continue to closely monitor CDC, state and local guidelines to ensure Walk events adhere to the latest recommendations.

The Radium Dial Painters: Their Fatal Brush with Death

Behind the story of the clock and watch industries’ success, lies a tragic story of employee sacrifice. For a time, little was known about the toxic working conditions of the young women in the dial painting industry. Fortunately, their story was eventually heard. Unfortunately, many of them did not live to see that day. Colleen Nicastro, Director of Interpretation at the American Clock & Watch Museum, will present this story of opportunity, broken trust, and the search for truth.

Family Time Capsule Program

Join the fun while learning about preserving memories! On Friday, October 21st at 6:30, the American Clock & Watch Museum will be hosting a Family Time Capsule Program at the museum. Build your own time capsule while learning how the Museum’s founder, Edward Ingraham, preserved the history and heritage of the clock and watch industries by packing special time capsules. Over the years, the boxes have been opened at special events at the museum to reveal what was happening at the time they were packed. Now it’s your turn. Come create a family time capsule! What items will be included in your time capsule? When you open it in 5-10 years, what memories will you find? What will your capsule say about the times you live(d) in?

The cost of the program is $10 per family. Time capsule box and decorative materials will be provided. You can bring small items and photos to put into the box or pack it when you get home. You must register for the program by Monday, October 17th. Register by phone—860-583-6070-- or on our website—clockmuseum.org.

The World of Harmonica with Bob Hennessey

The World of Harmonica with Bob Hennessey
Saturday, October 29 @ 2:00 PM
Bristol Public Library

The harmonica is a worldwide instrument voicing the music of hundreds of cultures. A fast-paced entertaining and educational program!

About this event
The harmonica is a worldwide instrument voicing the music of hundreds of cultures. And one simple reason could be its SIZE. It fits in your pocket like a cell phone. What has intrigued many in the music community is its ability, when played by masters, to encompass all genres of musical style with not just credibility but with critical acclaim. From Classical to Jazz to Near Eastern to Irish to Blues to Country et cetera. The list grows day by day.

The World of Harmonica" program is an effort to expand the awareness of the instrument. Using Story Telling, Historical Facts and playing the instrument in many styles Bob Hennessy tells the story and plays the music that will open your ears and minds to "The World of Harmonica." The program includes a Power Point presentation as well.

Presented by musician and photographer Bob Hennessey!
